Details
L. Miller & Son, Ltd. was a British publisher of magazines, comic books and pulp fiction.
Founded by Colin Traver and intended primarily to take advantage of the British ban on
importing printed matter. Between the 1940s and 1966, the firm published British editions
of many American comic books.
They are best known for turning the Fawcett charactersCaptain Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr.
and Mary Marvel into Marvelman, Young Marvelman & Kid Marvelman in 1953 in order to avoid
cancellation of their "Marvel" titles after America's Fawcett Publications stopped
publishing comics.
During their Marvelman period they also published a number of Timley/Atlas/Marvel Western
titles, such as the Two-Gun Kid and Outlaw Kid under titles such as Gunsmoke Westerns.
