The Bedford ‘S’ Type, or ‘Big Bedford’ as it was popularly known, was one of the main attractions at the London Commercial Vehicle Show where it was launched in 1950. It featured full forward control and a new 4.9 litre engine developing 110hp. From 1953, Perkins R6 diesel engines were made available for all ‘S’ Types and in 1957 the first Bedford diesel engine was introduced. A wide variety of wheelbase, powerplant and body type combinations were offered and tanker bodies were particilarly popular for carrying petroleum products and other bulk liquid loads. The millionth Bedford commercial vehicle came off the production line in 1958, with the ‘S’ Type contributing greatly to this achievement. In the Autumn of 1960 the ‘Big Bedford’ was replaced by the TK-range. Limited Edition 7.500 pcs. (with certificate)
