A series of 4 figurines of Suske en Wiske, made by the Nieuwpoort brick factory Florizoone. First a design was made of the 4 statues, of which Lambik first held a sword. They didn't like this design afterwards, so Lambik was changed with a lute in his hand. The 4 statues were distributed and sold to Belgium. You could also order these through the newspaper. Price per image and you could choose painted, unpainted, polychrome, glazed, etc ... The first time these images were made, the proud Willy Vandersteen came to Nieuwpoort to see how the images were made. Over the years, many statues have been broken and were simply thrown away. Nevertheless, there are still large quantities on the market. The designer of these statues was Mr. Gausse. There were 2 people who poured these statues into molds and then put them in the oven. One of these persons is still alive. There were a total of 6 different women who gave the images the desired color. When these images came from the moules, they were first updated by the women, this went very quickly. A total of 5 statues of Lambik are known with the sword in his hands. 3 glazed in white and 2 also glazed in the color. The figurines are marked at the bottom, eg photo 3 has an X engraved and a P marked. The X stands for the series of the baking. The P for the person who painted or enamelled the statue.
