Who can tell me the catalog value of the Catholic illustrations. Bound every two years and approx. 140 years old. In good condition and apart from a few damage, almost unread.

1872 and 1873 / 1885-1886 / 1887-1888. What is something like that worth in 2012?

If you look at www.boekwinkeltjes.nl , you usually see fairly normal prices for old bound volumes of the Catholic illustration.

A "joker" entered very high amounts in the Catawiki catalog for 1872, 1885 and 1887. ridiculously high!

At most 100 euros per bound year in very good condition and that is still very generous

Thank Tonko. I often see a 5.00 to 8.00 weekly issue from 1937.

Say, on average, loose publications 52 weeks x 8 = 416 - so about 425 - bound. In itself seems reasonable. May be a bit more because 1872 is even older and is rarely offered for sale or is no longer published. I would, if I wanted the intervening years, do that. Mss it is a typo from that 'joker'. In any case, thank you for your tip for website.

Today I bought the entire 1934/1935 volume of the Catholic illustration (with two pages of table of contents), in neat private binding, in a shop on Zijperstraat in Alkmaar for 15 euros. (52 issues in one volume)

You can buy all full or partial volumes from after 1930 in separate issues (do a bit of searching and have patience), based on one or two euros per issue.

Indeed some people charge up to about 7 euros for a single number. These are numbers that can have a special date or content for a buyer.

Bound Catholic illustrations from after about 1930 can still be bought in abundance for very reasonable prices, often in beautiful, collectible conditions / states. Prices from 10 euros to 20 euros per band with half a year.

Beautiful single issues are comparatively much more expensive than bound issues, because much more of them have been preserved.

The price quotations of the oldest (bound) volumes of the Catholic illustration have now been reduced to more normal proportions.

Of course it remains in practice with old stuff "what makes the fool"

In the shops, people are allowed to ask what they want, even if they make fun of themselves with it or people can freely get annoyed by it. They just do!

The catalog should contain more considered and somewhat market-based price quotations. As far as I am concerned, by a wide margin, but it should not be too whisked. Certainly not ten times what you would pay at a reputable antiquarian bookshop.

Today I wanted a few K.I. Enter 's, however noticed on the 2nd item that it concerns incomplete items: they are different front pages and' novel inserts'.

For me it is completely outside my collection area, I can imagine that these sheets are out Volume '26 -'27 would be welcome for a focused collector for completion or restoration.

send me a message and I will gladly send it to you -free-!

with regards ,

Jan

Proceeds from the first three volumes of Catholic illustration.

See the Catawiki book auction May 9, 2013, lot 78.

The volumes 1867/1870 privately bound. Not in new condition ...

All together, say 'fair condition'

The winning bid was ... 70 euros (plus auction costs and shipping costs)

An indication that the 'commercial value' is not very high, although the 'cultural-historical value' can nevertheless be quite high for some enthusiasts: the era, the graphic design, the stories, you name it ...
