Books/Strange mark on old French edition11 messages

#9717547 Zojuist ingevoerd. 

Op de achterkant staat een stempel van een kruis in een rondje met daarboven H08491. 
Lijkt mij niet van de drukker. Dat nummer is niet zo boeiend, echter dat aparte kruisje oogt als van een of andere "orde".  Wellicht dat iemand het iets zegt.  Wellicht iets voor de afdeling Heraldiek..

On the back is a stamp of a cross in a circle with H08491 above it.
Doesn't look like the printer to me. That number is not that interesting, but that special cross looks like some kind of "order". Maybe someone will say something. Perhaps something for the Heraldry department..

Leike-w  Daar lijkt het inderdaad wel op. Maar ja Tempeliers is toch vele eeuwen "vergane glorie en een trieste afloop"...  Maar wellicht gebruikten sommige Fransen zoiets als "logo".

Harry56 zou ik niet zo hard roepen ( orde/ vrij metselaars). De stempel ( meestal voor leer) kun je gewoon kopen hoor.(gelijk zegelring etc..) Het doel is de vraag..dus logo kan zeker.. of hij 91 jaar geleden werd gezet?? ;-)

Harry56 I wouldn't yell so loudly (order/free masons). You can just buy the stamp (usually for leather). (Signet ring, etc.) ;-)

Het is een Maltezer kruis, in gebruik als symbool voor zowel de Johanniter Orde als de Maltezer Orde.  Mogelijk is het item afkomstig uit een bibliotheek van een van de vestigingen van deze ordes.

Dank nog voor jullie reacties. Mijn Frans is beperkt tot Frans van de HBS , kan me redden in Frankrijk,  maar volledig begrijpen van zo n roman is vele bruggen te ver. Ik ga op zoek of er een samenvatting van dit boek ergens te vinden is op internet. Wat ik zoal bij het doorbladeren las, veel acties, veel dialogen, schepen die allerlei Aziatische wateren doorklieven incluis Batavia. Oorlogs gerelateerd, vanwege de frontcover met de doodshoofdvlag wellicht ook nog iets van piraterij.  Maar zeker geen jeugd avonturenboek.

Thanks again for your responses. My French is limited to French from the HBS , can get by in France, but fully understanding such a novel is many bridges too far. I'm going to see if there's a summary of this book somewhere on the internet. What I read while leafing through, many actions, many dialogues, ships that cut through all kinds of Asian waters, including Batavia. War related, because of the front cover with the skull flag perhaps also something of piracy. But certainly not a youth adventure book.

Op basis van jouw beschrijving lijkt het wel op een avonturenboek voor de jeugd. Volgens de Franse Wikipedia is dat ook zijn genre, maar dat had je waarschijnlijk al gelezen.

vertigo zou inderdaad een Maltezer kunnen zijn, alhoewel de specifieke 8 punt niet echt lijkt voor te komen. Tempeliers gebruiken vaker de 'steeltjes' . Maar ja, in de loop van jaren vervaagt het gebruik.

vertigo could indeed be a Maltese, although the specific 8 point doesn't seem to exist. Knights Templar more often use the 'stalks'. But yes, over the years the use fades.

Bij nader inzien denk ik dat je gelijk hebt, ik was iets te snel in mijn oordeel. De stempelafdruk lijkt meer op een tempelierskruis. Je zou ook bij een symbool van de Johaniter Orde verwachten dat het kruis opengewerkt was en dat alleen de omtrek met inkt wordt weergegeven.

On reflection I think you're right, I was a little too quick in my judgement. The stamp impression looks more like a Templar cross. You would also expect a symbol of the Order of Johaniter that the cross was openwork and that only the outline is shown in ink.

Altijd leuk en leerzaam deze forum-momenten. Het klopt dat deze schrijver jeugdboeken schreef ( overigens weet ik dat sinds 1 week..) echter zowel de voorplaat en wat ik in flarden van de inhoud heb opgemaakt oogt niet jeugdig ...  Ik kom er een keer op terug !

Always fun and educational these forum moments. It is true that this writer wrote children's books (by the way, I have known that since 1 week..) However, both the front cover and what I have made up in fragments of the content do not look youthful ... I will come back to it sometime!

Als ik het zo bekijk lijkt het me een inventarisatie stempel van een bibliotheek (Die dan al dan niet in een Orde van Malta/Johannieten locatie/commanderij is gevestigd geweest), volgens de Wikipedia van de (katholieke) Orde van Malta namelijk:
