Hello everyone!
I look for the first time somewhat serious in the tea bag catalog and see brands with and without the addition '[r]'
sometimes the same brand with and without
I can't figure out what that means...
thankful for an explanation!
Marcel

Looks like it refers to the ® entry after the name. That is a designation for a registered trademark. It has nothing to do with the name of the company, so it's not clear to me what its use is.

Api Cha [r] or Api-Chá , Cornwall or Cornwall [r] , Dogadan or Dogadan [r] , they are all the same brands, as far as I can tell.

There are also brands with [tm] as an addition because there is ™ (= TradeMark) after the name. The same applies to that.

But I'm not a tea drinker. As far as I can tell, it's mainly admin ANITADESR who entered or changed them. Maybe she can give an explanation. In any case, the Handbook says nothing about it.

And for any super admins, get in touch before you get the urge to merge everything. Happened to me a few times....

This was agreed and introduced in consultation with @Arco at the time. (Super) administrators should limit themselves with actions to the sections they manage.

I don't feel the need to intervene in this section, but as a normal user of the site I do try to understand why certain rules apply. That is not clear to me in this case. It is conceivable that there is a clear logic behind it, but "it is because that agreement has been made" I cannot find an explanation.

stripspeldjes
At the time, it was decided to make a distinction between trademarks with and without those registration marks.

So Cornwall and Cornwall[r] are different Brands/Manufacturers?
Okay, that will be functional in this section.
May I mention it in the Handbook.

It would probably raise fewer questions if the ® character were used (as was the case until mid-2020) instead of [r].

It is functional at Tea Bags.
They were no longer allowed to use the ® and ™, which is why they switched to the current spelling.

Collectioneur fazerco stripspeldjes ANITADESRwith a purpose
But why a distinction between Pickwick and Pickwick[r]?
That simply comes from 1 and the same manufacturer.
And you can mention those [r] and [tm] elsewhere
As stripspeldjes already indicated, there is not a word about it in the manual.
So then you can just choose?
And another 6 x Pickwick as a brand name.
Probably also with a purpose. But I can't find anything in the manual about why this is the case.
And if I now want to view everything from Pickwick, enter (for example)) you have to look in 6 places...
Keep only Pickwick as the brand name everywhere.
You then make differences in another (possibly new) field
