I use an old but fine scanner Canon Pixma. Scans are always fine and also suitable for the catalog. However, sometimes I get strange colors, as if the scanner light box from some covers or dust jackets makes it. I scan for photo, because document that does not work. See example of the yellow stripes ... I know that I should not clean the plate with glassex or another cleaning agent because of the risk of chemical residues. So clean it with cloth and sometimes bug water.

Does anyone know how I could set that up differently?

Harry56 The most obvious is the aging of the lamp. Another effect (again old age) can be due to 'corrosion/deterioration' of the mirror(s).
Can you do something about it? Try rotating the item first, or the same thing happens (determine where/position). Is it always about the same place : mirror. Furthermore, best not higher than 600 Dpi, and if that still doesn't work, take a look at the color mode setting (printer setting pixma), sometimes you can choose (scan and print color profile are linked).
Option: different scan program testing (simple : search for Naps32 on G. and try it.
Don't want to do all that yet (unscrewing and cleaning the mirror is an option, but usually even more problems). PS water is certainly allowed, but this is also possible damage the scan glass, very now and then a little pure methylated spirits would also like to (let it evaporate after cleaning).
Finally, if there are no results, unfortunately think about a new one.

Leike,

A scanner like this doesn't cost a flap these days, so that may well be the solution. I'll use methylated spirits first. Actually, I make scans at only 75 dpi , which is fine for comics and books. What I just find strange is that with most scans of books and comics there is not a single defect, you should just take a look at what I have entered recently. I'll let you know if I can figure it out, thanks again!

Could it be the thickness of the object to be scanned? That the valve (sometimes) does not close sufficiently and you get false light? Again depending on where your scanner is and what the light conditions are in the room at that moment.
