Er zijn van die duidelijke kerstfilms zoals Nightmare before Christmas, Scrooge, Polar Express en Santa Clause waar de kerstman zelf in voorkomt of het kerstverhaal centraal staat. Maar wat te doen met films die zich afspelen rond kerst zoals Love Actually, Home Alone, Gremlins, Batman Returns, Trading Places en zelfs Die Hard. Deze films komen allemaal voor in lijstjes voor kerstfilms en spelen zich af rond kerst en de kerstman komt er soms ook wel in voor. Wanneer wel en wanneer niet het genre kerst toevoegen?

mwb222 Het toevoegen van het genre kerst zou ik enkel dan doen wanneer kerst een duidelijke rol/betekenis heeft in het verhaal. Bij bv Love Acually en Home Alone is dit het geval, terwijl bij Batman Returns en Die Hard kerst er alleen als gimmick in zit, zonder dat het verder van invloed is in de film. Meestal wijst het zich dan vanzelf, al roept het soms ook weer de vraag op wanneer je het als een rol van betekenis moet beschouwen en wanneer niet...
