Here you are required to use a dropdown box. This is usually no problem.

And what if you have to enter a double cassette? So 2 cassettes in 1 sleeve? I have a Beatles double cassette that I want to import. I can only fill in cassette tape while the CDs go up to 5CD and more.

Where is the carrier double cassette?

Very easy. There is none. You are the first to ask for it in two years :-)

René and / or Marco are the only ones who can add that.

Do you think it is necessary to add French? Or - because it hardly ever occurs - mention in details that it is a double cassette? The disadvantage of adding is the even longer list of carriers and that you can then no longer request all cassette tapes together.

Not personally :-) I don't have those things, but we've added more of those rare carriers in the past. We have 38 cassette singles, 2 Reel to reel tapes and 18 8-tracks.

The fact that you can no longer request all cassette tapes at the same time is a problem that now also applies to several carriers. It is now also not possible to request all LPs at once. (double LPs and boxes must also be separate next to LPs). The same for CDs and double CDs. This has everything to do with the way in which selection and search can / must be done within Catawiki. We have already talked about the and / and selection within labels (RCA-Victor; Tamla-Motown). More or less the same applies.

rare item

Certainly not the double cassette (the blue version)? ;)

But I also think it makes perfect sense to enter that, because you also have 2CD, 3CD, 4CD and even 5CD? Just like indeed the LPs, all that remains is how to enter them (how to photograph, how many images required and which images?) With a double-cassette, it is therefore argued for an oblique view with the cassette upright (long side transverse to the platform ). This way you can see the side and the front. As 2nd image the back and as 3rd image 1 of the cassettes and then with your own collection both cassettes. But this is just a proposal.

And your link does not work, did you delete it again?

That seems like a good notation. That is also the case with the LPs and CDs, although I do not know a box with more than 5 cassettes.

Arco's proposal seems fine to me. Starting with 2MC and 4MC? The others are added quickly enough if needed.

Doesn't it make sense to include MC, instead of the terrible Cassette tape (we just call that cassette tape ?!).

I think the official name is cassette tape, because a tape runs through a cassette. People also often speak of a tape recorder. Often times that was associated with recording something and then you had something on tape.

Because it was also possible to play with that tape recorder and the tape was in a kind of cassette, I think it was also called a cassette recorder. You then had different kinds of tapes that you could put in and to distinguish between them, they had the music cassette and the recording cassette or something. Music cassettes became very popular and were soon turned into cassette tapes.

But I could also be completely wrong, but that's how I experience the definition and make use of what I know about it from my own childhood (cassette recorder as boombox)

Does anyone know what a Digipak is? I saw this at Caro Emerald 1156135 . When I look at the image, it looks like some kind of wallet implementation to me.

I don't know that version, but I do have 1 that is not (yet) in a cardboard version with a hinged lid (What do we call that?) and then the CD holder is made of plastic. Will probably enter it tonight, but it comes down to the CD version of 2913411 . Noting that it was not entered correctly (grey cover must be images 1 and 2). Will see if I can change that.

Have a look here ...

Such a plastic container with a cardboard hinged lid does indeed fall under this and I think this one is. So you could possibly replace the images with better ones.

@Arco: Those are indeed all Digipacks (or is it Digipak? Wikipedia doesn't come out either). And now I do indeed know what it is and when I get back home will scan the CD and enter it. It is a pity that there are so many collectors and no one who has even the realization to post multiple and better images! :(

Nobody wants a clear CataWiki Catalog and therefore a better Own Collection (because clear in the Catalog is also clearer in Collection)?

@FrenchS: thank you, that makes much clear. When I looked it up on Google I got all kinds of online store offers and no definition on an illuminating photo like on Wikipedia. Maybe because I searched Digipak.

@Arco: There are list only DVDs. Will there be a mixed list in the future? With CDs we cannot indicate that it is a digipak, except for the details. Actually a lack. Furthermore, I wondered if a DVD was in a sleeve it is still a digipa (c) k. When I look at the images on Wikipedia, it doesn't look like it.

You can import packaging for DVDs, but not for vinyl. It seems logical to me that you cannot search for it in that section.

A digipack is a digipack. You can also neatly indicate in the DVD section that there is a sleeve or a sliding box around it. At some point, those packages will have their own field and then they will disappear from the field that is now used for it.

A box is only a box in Catawiki if it contains separately packaged items that are also loose may be imported into Catawiki. Seems like the clearest explanation.
So if DVDs are stuck together in one case, it can never be a box and it is therefore a digipack.

4002891

I recently changed this 78 rpm record with 10" diameter,

an hour later I start to doubt whether or not I should have added both carriers.

The drop-down menu indicates at 10" that it is a mini LP,

I don't think mini-LP applies to this 78 rpm.

confusing isn't it? Opinions please. Best regards

There are also 10 inch LPs released at 33 rpm. I find mini-LP a confusing term. Maybe it's a good thing you removed it Arco.

Thanks for the 10 "reply.

I'm looking for a forum topic about artist names. Can't find anything.

Alias (or Real Name) is the artist name added and now it is, in my opinion, unclear to the layman who is who.

Eg

Donna Summer is: Gaines, LaDonna

Vangelis met z An (almost) unpronounceable Greek name.

George Michael too.

I want to see my Vangelis music under Vangelis in my collection, and not some strange name Supercalifragilicexpialidocious.;)

Personally, I find it more annoying that nothing of Aprodite's Child appears when I search for the musician Evanghelos while they are in the catalog.

But what is really annoying is that as a performing artist "Papathanasiou, Evanghelos (Vangelis)" is performed while the composer is referred to as "Papathanassiou, Evangelos (Vangelis)". Two different writing methods. And unfortunately, both are wrong. The correct spelling (yes, I admit immediately, I also had to peek) is Evanghelos (with h) Papathanassiou (with double s). And you might argue about that h, but at least not about those double s, because that's what it says on all labels

Fortunately, someone was smart enough to use Papathanassiou with double s as Enter name variation for the performer, so that it will be found when someone searches Evanghelos Papathanassiou . But the composer does not appear. And nothing is found at all if you search for the full name Evanghelos Odysseas Papathanassiou .

In short, HH record managers .... work to be done. :-)
