This field is intended for the title as stated on the model and / or packaging.

As you can see in the database, the title of almost all models starts with the car brand, although I consider this to be duplicate information, this is generally accepted. Mainly because it produces better results in searches.

So the most logical entry sequence is:

  • Make of car (eg Mercedes or Volkswagen)
  • type name (+ possibly number and / or code) eg; 'SL500' or 'GTI'
  • (possibly present) titles on labels or decals. Which often consist of commercial brand names. With the best-known example; Coca-Cola

which does not belong in the title field;

  • color and other variations,
  • 2-door or 4-door entry, etc.

This information can be placed in the 'Details' field.

I collect Max Verstappen's scale models and also enter them on the site. I mention the type of car, driver's name, and the version. This is because of some models 5 different versions are released, for example the car with which Max won his first race, 7 versions have now been released.

There are fan club editions, so I mention this immediately to keep it clear.
?What bothers me then is that models are also imported under the name Toro Rosso str11. In the meantime, a scale of drivers have ridden it, regardless of all editions that have been released. Doesn't make it any clearer.

Ask specifically, what is the best now?

BEST REGARDS,

Henry

Hey,

I mainly collect matchbox, majorette, hot wheels and Corgi juniors. So completely different, but I also notice the proliferation of double cars. Maybe someone at Catawiki should be busy throwing out duplicate cars from the collections.

It is indeed a problem. I search first by model car brand, then by car brand. It reduces the risk of double input. Sometimes I am also sometimes wrong. Sometimes there are also model cars that do not have a car make or type, then you can best google it.

Hot Wheels is a real problem. They come up with names, but for cars that are really made once. After all, the Hot Wheels policy is: the car must be able to be made (seen on Discovery channel in documentary about bizarre cars).

Have fun collecting !!!

Guy

There isn't really an administrator in this section, except 2 or 1? sub-area administrators. So if someone has the time and meaning, log in to Arco.

And otherwise change the duplicate in the title to duplicate of xxxxxx (x = catawiki number original)

And the unclear You can also adjust titles according to what you think is clear.

Update input lines:

what doesn't belong in the title field;

  • color indications
  • wheel and other variations
  • number of axles
  • 2-door or 4-door entry
  • Years (have their own entry field)
  • Driver names
  • Championship titles
  • Limited Edition (can be found in the varieties)

You can place this information in the 'Details' field.

Please do not fill in titles that are too long.

The Catawiki search engine also shows the results of the text in the details.

Keep it short and clear.
