Dino Attanasio was born in Milan and attended the Academy there. He started as an animator and worked on the cartoon The Rose of Baghdad. In 1948 he emigrated to Belgium. He initially drew the comic strips Fanfan and Polo for the French-language newspaper La Libre Belgique.

He then drew some Stories of Uncle Wim for the Spirou comics magazine, but he also worked for other magazines such as Line and Kuifje.

For the latter magazine he and Goscinny created Signor Spaghetti in 1957. About an Italian immigrant who tries to make a living in all sorts of ways. Dino Attanasio himself was a bit of a model for this figure.

Attanasio also drew in a more realistic style: from 1959 to 1962 he drew 5 albums by Bob Morane on a screenplay by Henri Vernès and in 1983 Soleil des damnés (published by Deligne).

From the 1970s Attanasio worked a lot for the Dutch market. He drew the comic strip Johnny Goodbye on a screenplay by Martin Lodewijk, Bandoneon on a screenplay by Yvan Delporte and De Macaroni's on a screenplay by Dick Matena. These comics were published in the comics magazine Pep and later in Eppo.
