Najlepszy, Anton (1928-2005) Anton Najlepszy was born of Polish parents in Genk in 1928. Being a high pressure welder by profession, as an artist he spontaneously opted for copper material, which he simply called fascinating. His technique was unique. Only with a hammer and a chisel did he make sculptures straight from a copper plate. Anton's great example was Henri Moore, an English sculptor. In addition to his influence, Anton's style is also influenced by Jo Verwilghen, his most important teacher at the Municipal Academy in Hasselt. He has received several awards abroad. In Warsaw, Anton was awarded an honorary diploma for the high quality and artistic value of his copper gear. The Swiss St. Geord Academy invited him to regularly give lectures as a guest teacher and art copper writer. Naturally, his style evolved over the years. Figurative or abstract, religious or profane, he was an ambassador of an art of which he was one of the most sublime representatives. Anton Najlepszy died in Genk in 2005. Work in possession of the City of Hasselt.
